Antique French Gold Mourning Brooch Miniature Painting tombstone 1 5/8" x 1 3/8"

Description

This is an Antique French Gold Mourning Brooch Miniature Painting tombstone measuring 1 5/8" tall x 1 3/8" wide x 3/8" thick. Don't know if it was made in France but the tombstone says "Mon Frer Cheri" which is French for " My darling brother". Believe to be c. 1860. Gold case, glass front and the painting is actually an inked etching in what seems to be bone. Upper right edge has a piece that is there but has cracked. Tests as gold but unsure what k. Amazing piece for a collector of this kind of antique.
