Description

This Japanese cast iron tetsubin or kettle is 11 ½ inches tall to the top of the handle and 11 ½ inches wide including the spout. It is 7 1/2 inches tall to the top of the finial on the lid. On the side of the kettle there is a phoenix and a tree extending from a body of water. It has a three character mark to the left of the phoenix. We believe this dates to the 19
th
century. There is some rust on the inside of the kettle. The handle does not stand up. There is a small hole in the bottom of the kettle. On the side of the lid there are two spots where it is not quite round. It weighs 6 lbs and 2 ounces.
