Seven notes #18-24 printed by the People's Republic of China for the Khmer Rouge. They were briefly issued in two
locations in 1975 but soon recalled because Pol Pot decided he wanted an "agrarian moneyless society."
All notes dated 1975.  Collected in 1990s prior to reproductions.  Guaranteed 100% authentic.  I'm not a currency/coin collector and don't attempt to grade them.  You will receive a set equal or better than pictured.  Stored in plastic wallet.

CAMBODIA KHMER ROUGE POL POT CURRENCY SET
Complete set of Khmer Rouge currency (Krause P18-24) in good condition, printed in 1975, "Year Zero" in Cambodia's genocidal history. A genuine artifact of a 20th century catastrophe.
Within a day of seizing Phnom Penh, Cambodia in April 1975, the Khmer Rouge declared that all money was to be abolished. Soldiers gleefully tossed currency into the streets.  However three weeks later the new Khmer Rouge regime began circulating this currency throughout the country. Shortly thereafter the currency was withdrawn and Pol Pot wavered a few times in releasing and withdrawing the currency until it was finally decided the new agrarian society would be cashless. Most of the currency remained locked in the National Bank of Cambodia's vault until the Khmer Rouge retreated from Phnom Penh and the vault was blown.
The scenes on these notes depict the revolution the architects dreamed of.  They include Angkor Wat (the symbol of the Khmer Nation), agrarian peasants working side by side with soldiers planting and harvesting rice, young revolutionary women hoisting rocket launchers, proud textile workers, determined women digging irrigations ditches and a variety of scenes of triumphant soldiers using primitive weaponry in the battlefields and marching through the countryside.  This is a set of seven notes including a 100 riel, 50 riel, 10 riel, 5 riel, 1 riel, 0.5 riel and 0.1 riel. I guarantee this is genuine 1975 Khmer Rouge currency.  Theoretically all are uncirculated as the currency was never really used but these notes are in good condition as pictured. Photos were scanned through plastic sleeve and plastic discoloration is a factor.  You will receive a set equal or better.
Note “copied” Khmer Rouge currency sets began circulating about 2001 presumably from China or Vietnam. Originally, they could be easily distinguished by lack of watermark. Hold a genuine 100, 50, 10, 5 or 1 riel note up to the light and you'll see a faint brown silhouette watermark of the Angkor Wat temples. The 0.5 and 0.1 notes never had watermarks though. Better fake KR currency sets have emerged with perfect watermark. It takes a good look at the paper's grain to distinguish. If anyone is selling a complete set in UNC condition its probably a copy. Good quality 0.5 and 0.1 notes are a giveaway.  As cooking fuel was unavailable, the genocide survivors used the lower denominations as kindling and held on to the larger notes in the slim hope they would have some value.
This set was collected in Cambodia in the 1990s before the fakes hit the market. The notes have been stored in plastic sleeves since.  Also note that the 0.5 and 0.1 notes are more scarce then the Krause catalog indicates.
