Pretty Victorian c1840s-1870s 14k Gold Onyx Cross Memorial Pin Brooch

Presented is a wonderful Victorian memorial brooch. This piece dates to around 1840-1870s. The brooch is made of 14 karat gold. The front of the brooch features a gold cross set in onyx. The cross and the sides of the brooch are beautifully hand engraved with elegant scroll designs, very nicely done work. The back of the brooch is clear glass, displaying a memorial piece made from tightly woven dark brown hair. This can be removed and replaced with something of your choosing easily. The back of the brooch has an old 'c' style clasp.
The pin is in good overall condition. There is a chip and what may be a small crack at about the six o'clock position on the front. There are no breaks or repairs to the gold. The details of the engraved designs are quite crisp.
This piece has been nitric acid tested and is guaranteed 14k.
The brooch is approximately 1 1/4 inch long.
This piece weighs 10.8 grams.
